D209 Renews Alternative Learning Program Partnership With West 40

As of June, according to District 209 data, 630 students at Proviso East and 705 students at Proviso West, or around 27 percent and 29 percent of the student body at those schools, respectively, were missing more than one credit while 570 East students were identified as chronically truant.

D209 Debates ‘Required’ Parent Meeting

Starting next school year, parents at Proviso Township High Schools District 209 will be required to attend an annual orientation meeting. In April, the D209 school board voted unanimously to add the requirement to the district’s School-Parent Compact, which every student, parent and/or legal guardian is required to sign.

D209 Board Approves New Supt. Contract

The Proviso Township High Schools District 209 school board approved a 5-year contract for Supt. Jesse Rodriguez during a contentious regular meeting on June 12 that could prove ominous, with some people referencing allegations of discriminatory hiring and workplace practices lodged against the administration to argue why the school board should vote the contract down or at least hold off on voting until the allegations are looked into.
