Red light cameras will likely be in Broadview soon. During a Jan. 22 meeting, the village’s Board of Trustees voted 4-1 in favor of a contract with Chicago-based SafeSpeed, LLC to install the cameras at key intersections throughout the village.

Village of Broadview officials are seeking to issue up to $12 million in bonds in order to pay for various renovations at village hall, the construction of a new 911 emergency dispatch center and new equipment for the public works department.

During a June 11 special meeting, the Broadview Board of Trustees voted 3-2 to submit an application to join the advisory council for the Illinois Coalition of Local Governments — a relatively new lobbying organization that, according to its website, wants to “stand up for local governments who want Springfield out of their business.” Trustee Sherman Jones was absent.
