Maywood Mayor Edwenna Perkins said that she’d like to see a vendor serving coffee and donuts to commuters inside of the village’s new Metra train depot, at the corner of Main St. and 5th Ave. in Maywood.

West Cook YMCA Wants To Make Fred Hampton Pool A Destination Point

During a regular meeting on Feb. 20, the Maywood Board of Trustees voted unanimously in favor of a resolution to authorize an agreement between the village and the West Cook YMCA to jointly operate the Fred Hampton Family Aquatic Center, 300 Oak St. in Maywood, during the summer.

Maywood Likely to Approve 3% Levy Amid Residents’ Complaints

During a contentious Dec. 5 public hearing on Maywood’s 2017 tax levy, around a half dozen village residents berated the Board of Trustees for proposing to increase the village’s annual budget by 3 percent over last year’s level. The board is expected to authorize the new levy at a regular meeting on Dec. 19.
